in 1853 as a mission of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, when pastor, Rev. John Lindemann first organized our church and conducted services in a house that doubled as a church and school. In 1958 the parish became independent of Zion and was named Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church (aka Trinity Ohio City). This once German-speaking parish has had a long history of pastors who are mission-minded, so when the services went to English-only after World War II, and the neighborhood began to change in 1956, the decision was made to stay and under Pastor Arthur Ziegler, the parish undertook new community ministries that began providing food and needed services, such as legal and medical assistance, to the neighborhood poor. These ministries continued, were expanded under succeeding pastors, and continue today due to the dedication of our members and volunteers. Anyone is welcome to join us on the last two Saturdays of each month to help with food or clothing ministries. We now also have a street ministry that goes out on Sundays to bring blankets, clothing, and hygiene products to the homeless. Also, our world-famous Beckerath Organ played by Bob Myers can be heard each week at our Wednesday "Music Near the Market" concerts at Noon. Bring a lunch and enjoy the sounds of this one-of-a-kind German organ. There's more.... come see what else we're doing! We look forward to meeting you!
We believe everyone can find a place at Trinity Ohio City. We understand that exploring Jesus or visiting a new church for the first time can be an intimidating and uncomfortable experience. At TOC, people of all ages and from all walks of life make up our congregation.
As a Missouri Synod church, we are scripture-based and believe that our faith alone in Jesus Christ provides forgiveness of sins and salvation. We believe in the Holy Trinity: God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ his only son, whom we believe died on the cross, has risen, and sits at the right hand of God. We believe in baptism, and in the power of the Holy Spirit to guide and increase our faith.
Whether you're completely new to church or just haven't been for awhile, we'd love to see you. Join us on Sundays for traditional, contemporary, or cross-cultural contemporary worship where you'll experience a friendly welcome, a dynamic service, and relevant teaching.
We're glad you're here.
